BrokenSoul's claws ripped along a large lback body, and the claws of the black beast ripped along him too. More blood came from the hooked claws than the sharp ones as they were each scored over a pelt. The ground and sky whirled into one as the two rolled together, each trying furiousley to come out on top. BrokenSoul aimed a blow for thebadgers throat. Eternal Fire's head jerked to the side and the claws went harmlessly through the thick fur. The motion gave Fire just enough time. His massive head lunged forth, his jaws opened wide. BrokenSoul tried to jerk away but the two were skill rolling. The next thing he felt was an exploding pain in his neck. It blinded him with a flash of red light. The CoreClan leader snarled in fury, shaking his head. Blood flew everywhere and then...Nothing. His senses ebbed into blackness and the last thing he felt through his pain was strong teeth grasping into his scruff.
The leader opened his mismatched eyes and let off a yowl of shock. He wasn't standing in a forested glade, but ratehr a plain of hot, smoking craters. Occasionally a fire started up in one of them, or some lava oozed over the edge. The leader padded through the plains, his head swinging from side to side. Andthen he stopped as a cat caught his attention.
"Hello, BrokenSoul." Came the soft voice.
The leader looked around and saw a black cat with fiery eyes that gleamed red in the firelight. BrokenSoul dipped his head. "Hello, DarkQueen." He murmured. Another cat appeared beside her, BurningSoul, leader before him. "And BurningSoul."
The former leader nodded to his former deputy, his tail twitching as he looked to the Queen beside him.
"My Queen, BurningSoul, I have heard from DarkenedPaw that HeavenClan believes that badger who killed me was sent from you. But tell me, would a badger sent by the Kingdom of Flames kill one who is one of the closest to its master? If it had lost control that may be the problem, but I know you, DarkQueen, to be one who never lets anyone step from line, and this badger would be no exception..."
It was BurningSoul who answered. "The Flame Kingdom has sent no badger down to earth, but we call tell you a great deal of it. It goes by the title Eternal Fire. And like fire, it can never fully go away. Even a flame that is put out leaves devistation in its wake. This badger is worse. It leaves devistation in its wake just like a flame, but unlike the blaze he will come back, over and over, even we do not know how to stop it.
"So it is not sent by you?" BrokenSoul said, mostly to himself.
"No, and now it is time you return, BrokenSoul. And may your Clan have the strength to defeat this immortal enemy." The DarkQueen said. And with a nodd of her head, BrokenSoul found ihmself falling through darkness and flame. The colors blurred together, making a wave of red and black and reminding the leader of his murderer.
And then the pain returned. No blood flew freely from the leader's neck, but a deep scar traced along the mismatched fur. It was no longer broken, but the sore ache still remained. The leader twitched his ears, waiting for full strength and his senses to return completely. And all the while he considered what the two high ranking Kingdom cats had told him...
